Terms
Version 1.0, 2 November 2026. These terms cover the website moonlightapp.de, the site joinmoonlight.app and the Moonlight app during the Berlin beta, which opens on 4 December 2026. Plain English. A German version follows, and for consumers in Germany the German version will prevail once it is published.
1. Who we are
Moonlight is run by Oh My Moonlight UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Kollwitzstr. 76, 10435 Berlin, Germany, Amtsgericht Charlottenburg HRB 276887 B, represented by Firly Maulana. Email: hello@moonlightapp.de. "Moonlight" is a registered trademark (DPMA 30 2025 222 310).
2. What Moonlight is
Moonlight is an app that shows, on a map, what members and public sources reported about public places in Berlin, lets members add their own reports, lets a member alert the people in their Safety Squad, and lists venues that committed to let a person step inside. Moonlight is information. It is not an emergency service and it does not replace calling 110 or 112.
3. This website
You may read moonlightapp.de and joinmoonlight.app freely. The words, pictures and design on both sites are ours; ask before you use them, except where copyright law allows it, for example a short quotation with the source. The beta list form and the Sis Haven form send us what you type; the privacy notice says what happens with it. An application to become a Sis Haven is not a listing yet. A venue becomes a Sis Haven when we have visited and both sides have signed the one-page commitment.
A post on joinmoonlight.app is not a report in the app and needs no account. The same rules for writing apply: say what happened, where and when, and leave out anything that identifies a person. The Community Guidelines explain them. A post that breaks them is not published.
4. The closed beta
The app is a test version for invited testers from 4 December 2026. Functions can fail, change or disappear while we build. The map may show few reports. We may end the beta, or your access to it, at any time, and we tell you when we do. You give feedback voluntarily and we may use it to improve the app. There is no fee and nothing is sold during the beta.
5. Who may use the app
You must be 18 or older. Moonlight is for women; you declare your gender once at sign-up. One account per person, under your own email address. You keep your password to yourself and tell us if someone else has used your account.
6. Your content
What you post stays yours. You allow Moonlight to show it to members, to moderate it, and to keep it as the privacy notice describes. Moonlight never rewrites your words; a moderator may delete a detail that identifies a person, shown as "[removed by a moderator]". You post only what you saw or what happened to you, and you follow the Community Guidelines, which are part of these terms.
7. Moderation, objections, closing an account
Every report is read by a person before it shows. The Community Guidelines say what a moderator may remove, how you object, and how you appeal. We may remove content, pause an account for a review, or close an account for breaking the guidelines or the law. We tell you what we did and why, and you can object. When we close an account, we keep a case file for three years for legal defence, as the privacy notice says.
8. What the app needs, and what it cannot promise
The app needs a phone with signal, battery, and the permissions it asks for. An alert reaches your Safety Squad only when your phone can send it and their phones can receive it. Reports show what people reported, not whether a place is safe. We keep the app updated for security while you use it; a serious defect in the alert may require you to update before the app runs again.
9. Liability
Moonlight is liable under the law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for injury to life, body or health, for intent or gross negligence, or under product liability law. For other damage, Moonlight is liable for the breach of duties that make the app usable at all, limited to the damage that was foreseeable when you started using it.
10. Your data
The privacy notice says what we process and why. It is part of these terms.
11. Ending
You can delete your account at any time in the app. We can end your access as section 7 says, or when the beta ends.
12. Changes to these terms
We tell you in the app before a change applies, with the date and the main changes. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before the change applies.
13. Law and disputes
German law applies, without affecting the protection you have as a consumer in your country of residence. Where the law allows a choice, the place of jurisdiction is Berlin. Moonlight is not obliged to take part in consumer arbitration and does not take part in it.
14. Contact and reporting illegal content
hello@moonlightapp.de, in German or English, also for notices about illegal content under the Digital Services Act and for authorities. We answer within 72 hours.
